We’re looking for an experienced Volunteer Support Officer, passionate about contemporary volunteer engagement practices, to join our team of more than 1000 volunteers and 1,500 employees to make a difference on a 12-month contract, covering a parental leave.
THE ROLE
This role will work with the broader Volunteer Engagement Team, liaising with Leaders of Volunteers, Volunteer Engagement Advisors and potential volunteers to support the positive and effective engagement of volunteers. This will be achieved by identifying and creating meaningful volunteer experiences supporting the organisation’s vision and strategic objectives and supporting the onboarding of volunteers.
The role will have an administrative focus, supporting screening and onboarding of potential and current volunteers to obtain necessary identification and supporting Leaders of Volunteers to assist volunteers with screening and onboarding. Playing a supportive role with Social Media engagement and uploads to the volunteer pages, participating in and contributing to National Volunteer Week activities, and assisting the Volunteer Engagement team with the roll out of MyImpact to volunteers across BSL.
- Support and assist leaders of volunteers, volunteer engagement advisors and potential volunteers to create a great volunteer experience through general administrative support and information sharing
- Support screening and onboarding of potential and current volunteers, including where appropriate, supporting them to obtain necessary identification
- Work with Leaders of Volunteers and volunteers to ensure volunteer compliance with safeguarding and mandatory training requirements
- Add and maintain records of volunteers in the central volunteer data management system
- Participate in the facilitation and review of volunteer training and other relevant learning and development opportunities
- Support the production of compliance, continuous improvement, and impact reporting
Salary will be in the range of $76,195 - $81,702 pro rata per annum, based on skills and experience plus superannuation.

- Significant experience in a customer-facing role, preferably with a community services organisation. Experience co-ordinating or supporting volunteer engagement program/s in a similar organisation highly valued
- Demonstrated commitment to excellent customer services
- Ability to analyse and interpret information, and reporting to various stakeholders
- Well-developed interpersonal skills with the proven ability to build effective relationships, externally and with people from diverse backgrounds
- Proven experience in the coordination of a volunteer program/service
- Well-developed written communication skills for the preparation of resources and communications
- Interest in Volunteer Management
- Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
